DESCRIPTION:A comedy about an atheist surviving cancer \nComedy performance and FREE art workshops coming to Elliston \n  \nThe Elliston community will experience a Country Arts SA Shows on the Road program for the very first time when the ‘The Orchid and the Crow’ is staged at the Elliston Community Hall on Saturday 15 September 2018 at 7:30pm \n  \nReflecting on writer/performer Daniel Tobias’s real life (and almost death) experiences\, The Orchid and the Crow is a solo performance that is part story-telling\, part-theatre featuring original songs from the award-winning writers of Otto & Astrid (Die Roten Punkte). \n  \nThe winner of a Green Room Award for Best Writing Cabaret the show deals with rarely discussed themes in an entertaining\, accessible and comical way\, this is a brilliantly clever and ultimately moving story that audiences have described as ‘lifechanging’. \n  \nThe District Council of Elliston has generously offered to subsidise the first 100 Adult ticket sales so that those Elliston audiences can access the show at great value. \n  \nIn conjunction with the Orchid and the Crow theme community members in Elliston of all ages will have the opportunity to partake in a FREE series of visual art workshops with visiting artist Annabelle Collett from Monday 27 – Wednesday 29 August 2018.   Ms. Collett will facilitate creative play and patterns on paper or fabric to create a variety of sculptural forms exploring pattern and motif through the contrasting use of Black and White.   The theme will symbolise the extremities of life – the good and the bad\, the strength and the fragility\, the light and the dark\, the push and the pull.  The artworks will be used to create a Hall installation as part of The Orchid and The Crow touring performance.  People who partake are urged to collect all things Black and White including papers\, paints\, plastic containers\, string\, pegs\, wool\, fabrics\, used clothing\, toys\, plastic plates and implements. \n  \nKym Callaghan\, Chairperson\, District Council of Elliston says\, “The community celebration of the Elliston Coastal Trail will be held on Saturday 15 September with a fabulous line-up of events from 12:30pm.  The Orchid and the Crow performance\, visual art workshops and installation is part of an exciting program of events.  I hope that Elliston people will take advantage of the visual and performing arts elements which offer great value.” \n  \n  \n‘The Orchid and the Crow’ \nElliston Community Hall\, Memorial Drive \nSaturday 15 September 2018\, 7:30pm \n*Tickets available on the door at 7pm \nSuitable for audiences 15 and over \n  \nTickets on sale NOW! \nDistrict Council of Elliston \n21 Beach Terrace \nAdult/Group $20 (first 100) \nU17 $10

DESCRIPTION:The Australian Salmon Fishing Championship is held annually on the West Coast of the Eyre Peninsula during the months of June\, July and August. We are in the 23rd year of successful competition with many fishermen returning each year in the hope of catching the big one! \nPrizes\nHeaviest salmon each month gets $1000\, second heaviest gets $300 each month and there is a mystery weight each fortnight. The closest weight to the Mystery weight will receive $200 each fortnight!\nThere is also a photo competition\, you can send a maximum of 3 photos into the Elliston Community and Visitor Information Centre for your chance to win the monthly prize of $50. Your photos may also be displayed on our website/ Facebook and in future marketing. \nThere will be a winter raffle during the Salmon Competition\, tickets are $2 each and can be purchased from the Information Centre and other participating businesses. \nThe lucky ticket prize will be announced at the end of the event \nThank you to our all of our sponsors for supporting this event! \nThe rules of the competition are –\n-Competition commences 1st June and ends on the 31st of August.\n-Salmon must be caught with a hook and line form the shore between Mount Camel Beach and Sheringa Beach\, Eyre Peninsula.\n-Entrants must purchase a ticket ($10) Before catching their salmon to be weighed.\n-Salmon must be gutted and washed (not gilled or scaled) and be presented on the day of capture to the Elliston Apartments\, Elliston to be weighed.\n-maximum of three salmon per entrant per day can be weighed in.

DESCRIPTION:The Elliston Area School Wool Show is the major fundraising event for the school and helps provide students with extra resources to enhance their learning. \nThe wool show is one of the biggest displays of wool outside the Royal Adelaide Show and provides a wonderful opportunity for local growers to display and discuss their wool. \n\nThe Elliston Area School Wool Show is a great family day also showcasing a variety of students’ artwork and enterprise stalls including games and food. \nSponsorship and support for the wool show is received from businesses\, farms and studs across South Australia with all proceeds from the annual wool show to go to the Elliston Area School.

Come and be informed and get the questions you may have\, answered. \nSA Rips will be showing slides of our pristine yet wild and remote coastline\, highlighting the importance of protection. \n\nFace painting \nA free yoga class will be held at 11am. \nAdd your handprint to a banner which will join similar banners from the other towns and later head to the steps of Parliament House. \nALL WELCOME! \nThe event is in association with ‘Unite the Bight’ which is a celebration of coastal communities from Penong to Adelaide joining together to keep risky oil drilling out of the bight.

DESCRIPTION:The Australian Salmon Fishing Championship is held annually on the West Coast of the Eyre Peninsula during the months of June\, July and August. We are in the 23rd year of successful competition with many fishermen returning each year in the hope of catching the big one! \nPrizes\nHeaviest salmon each month gets $1000\, second heaviest gets $300 each month and there is a mystery weight each fortnight. The closest weight to the Mystery weight will receive $200 each fortnight!\nThere is also a photo competition\, you can send a maximum of 3 photos into the Elliston Community and Visitor Information Centre for your chance to win the monthly prize of $50. Your photos may also be displayed on our website/ Facebook and in future marketing. \nThere will be a winter raffle during the Salmon Competition\, tickets are $2 each and can be purchased from the Information Centre and other participating businesses. \nThe lucky ticket prize will be announced at the end of the event \nThank you to our all of our sponsors for supporting this event! \nThe rules of the competition are –\n-Competition commences 1st June and ends on the 31st of August.\n-Salmon must be caught with a hook and line form the shore between Mount Camel Beach and Sheringa Beach\, Eyre Peninsula.\n-Entrants must purchase a ticket ($10) Before catching their salmon to be weighed.\n-Salmon must be gutted and washed (not gilled or scaled) and be presented on the day of capture to the Elliston Apartments\, Elliston to be weighed.\n-maximum of three salmon per entrant per day can be weighed in.
